Fragments of silent skin.

An exploration into the cultural conditioning and silencing of the feminine skin.

“Fragments of Silent Skin explores multimodality as a feminist practice of undoing.

The project is held within the field of creative practice and engages with five parallel streams of practice (Movement, Writing, Digital, Artist’s Books, and Performative Installation).

It explores the question, can I unpick the feminine silence from my skin? Can I create a language of undoing that unfolds through a series of multimodal creative languages?

The research unfolds within the intangible border spaces between modalities and engages with a methodology of (un)doing-ness as the practices speak to, inspire and inform each other in a way that creates a multi-dimensional tapestry as the project unfolds.

Fragments of Silent Skin engages visual artist Ann Hamilton’s approach to creative process as a key methodological scaffold and conceptual pivot of creative practice”.
