The chains.
At the end of last year, I had the privilege of being asked to photograph the Auckland Mayoral chain.
It was before the 2022 election and was a very secret, early morning, photoshoot.
Traditionally the Auckland mayoral chain is maintained and upgraded by the Mt Eden jeweller, currently Wayne Jeffers.
Wearing a chain of office is a historical British custom continued by mayors in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Weighting more than 15 kilograms, the chain may be worn when officiating Citizenship Ceremonies and when attending ANZAC services.
The chain is now with the new Auckland mayor, Wayne Brown.
